What is QRIS?
QRIS (Quick Response Code Indonesia Standard) is the unification of various kinds of QR from various Payment System Service Providers (PJSP) using QR codes. Therefore, every QR code-based PJSP provider, both local and foreign, must use QRIS.
This certainly makes it easier for us banking service users because no matter what means of payment we have, transactions can be carried out by scanning in the same place, namely on QRIS, which is found in all merchants that provide this payment method.
This is in line with its slogan: one QRIS for all payments. So, when you are at a coffee shop, mini market, or stall and you see a QRIS logo there, you can make transactions no matter the payment instrument you use.
How to Read QRIS
Well, this is a question that often arises when we discuss QRIS. Because QRIS is an abbreviation, QRIS is read "KRIS," not "kyu-ris," "ki-ris", or "keris".
Benefits of QRIS
QRIS was developed by the payment system industry with Bank Indonesia to make the transaction process with QR codes easier, faster, and more secure.
According to Bank Indonesia, QRIS has the following benefits for users and merchants :
Benefits of QRIS for users
- Fast and up-to-date
- Cashless because there is no need to bother carrying cash.
- No need to bother thinking about whose QR is installed.
- Protected because all PJSP QRIS organizers must have a license and be supervised by Bank Indonesia
Benefits of QRIS for merchants
- Potentially increase sales through QRIS payments.
- More practical because it is enough to use one QRIS for all transactions
- Reduce cash management costs, as transactions are recorded automatically and can be viewed at any time
- Avoid counterfeit money
- No need to bother providing change
- Separate money for business and personal
- Facilitate reconciliation and potentially prevent fraudulent bookkeeping of cash transactions
- Increase credit profile information to make it easier to get credit
With QRIS, all payment applications from any organizer, both banks and nonbanks used by the public, can be used in all stores, merchants, stalls, parking, tourist tickets, to donations (merchants) with the QRIS logo, even though the QRIS provider at the merchant is different from the application provider used by the community.
QRIS Payment Types
There are three types of QRIS payments that you can apply as merchants and users:
-
Merchant Presented Mode (MPM) Statis
This type of QRIS payment is the easiest. Merchants only need to display one QRIS pint-out sticker, and it's free. QRIS users who want to make a payment only need to scan, enter the nominal, enter a pin, and click pay.
-
Merchant Presented Mode (MPM) Dinamis
In this type of payment, QR is done through an EDC or smartphone and is free. The difference from the first type is that in this type of QRIS payment, merchants must enter the payment nominal first, then the customer scans the QRIS that appears or is printed. While in the first type of payment, the customer carries out the process of entering the nominal payment.
This Dynamic QRIS MPM payment type is perfect for medium and large business-scale merchants with high transaction volumes.
-
Customer Presented Mode (CPM)
In this last type of payment, it is precisely the customer who shows the QRIS displayed on his payment application for discant by the merchant. This method is more intended for merchants who need transaction speed, such as transportation providers, parking, and retail.
In addition to the type, you also need to know that the QRIS nominal is limited to a maximum of IDR 10,000,000 per transaction. Issuers can also set daily and/or monthly cumulative nominal limits for transactions made by each QRIS user based on the issuer's risk management.
