You may have heard the term BI Checking quite often in the banking world, especially when you want to apply for a loan. Did you know that as of January 1, 2018, BI Checking or the Debtor Information System (SID) is no longer used?
Services related to BI Checking/SID have been transferred from Bank Indonesia to the Financial Services Authority under the name of the Financial Information Service System (SLIK). Come on, see the full discussion about SLIK.
What is SLIK?
SLIK is an information system whose management aims to carry out supervisory duties and provide financial information services, one of which is in the form of providing debtor information (iDeb).
With the SLIK, the scope of iDeb has been further expanded to cover bank financial institutions, financial institutions (finance), and also to non-bank financial institutions that have access to debtor data and the obligation to report debtor data to the Debtor Information System (SID).
The use of SLIK
Based on the OJK website, SLIK is used for reporting, funding provision facilities, collateral data, and other related data from various types of financial institutions, the public, Credit Information Management Institutions (LPIP), and other parties.
The use of SLIK is also expected to make it easier for people to apply for loans. In addition, the SLIK is also expected to be able to minimize non-performing loans (NPL).
Things You Need to Know About SLIK
Before you use the SLIK service, there are a few things you need to know:
-
Free
The SLIK service is free and free of charge. For those of you who want to use the SLIK service, you have to be careful of fraud if you are asked to pay when you want to use the SLIK service.
-
Fast
The process of using the SLIK service is relatively fast. According to the OJK, the SLIK service takes 15 minutes (5 minutes for printing and 10 minutes for printing with an iDeb explanation).
-
Should not be represented
For those of you who want to use the SLIK service, OJK does not recommend being represented. You should come or take care of the SLIK service yourself. However, if you are unable to attend to collect the SLIK data service in person, you can make a power of attorney accompanied by stamp duty, the original KTP of the debtor, and the original KTP of the attorney.
-
Original Identity Card
The last thing you need to pay attention to when you want to use the SLIK service is an original identity card. For those of you who want to use the SLIK service on your own behalf and as an Indonesian citizen, you need to prepare an original KTP. Meanwhile, foreign nationals need to prepare a passport. For business entities, it is mandatory to bring a photocopy of the business entity and the management showing the original identity of the business entity.
